Primary 5 English Language – First Term, Week 2 Lesson Note

Lesson Overview

Writing about “A Place I Would Like to Visit” helps pupils express their dreams, interests, and descriptive skills. It allows them to practice composition writing while imagining themselves in a new or exciting environment.

Definition

A composition is a piece of writing that gives detailed information about a topic.
When we write on “A Place I Would Like to Visit,” we describe a place we dream of going to, explain why we want to go there, what we have heard about it, and connect it to our past experiences.

In short, this topic helps pupils learn descriptive writing — using words to paint pictures in the reader’s mind.

Here are examples to broaden understanding:

  1. Abuja – The capital city of Nigeria, known for its beauty, orderliness, and landmarks like Aso Rock and the National Mosque.
  2. Yankari Game Reserve (Bauchi State) – A wildlife park where animals like elephants and lions can be seen.
