JSS 3 BASIC TECHNOLOGY – THIRD TERM SCHEME OF WORK

(Lagos State / NERDC Aligned | Lessonshabitat.com Edition)

Introduction

Third term in Basic Technology is not about rushing to the finish line—it is about connecting skills, machines, electricity, and real-life problem solving. Learners are gradually moving from theory into practical understanding of how technology shapes everyday life—from simple tools to electronic systems.

This term focuses heavily on:

  • Fault detection and troubleshooting
  • Basic electronics
  • Machine motion (linear and rotary systems)
  • Revision of drawing and technical skills

It prepares students for BECE success and real-world technical awareness.

WEEKLY SCHEME OF WORK

WEEK 1: Revision of Last Term’s Work

  • Review of second term topics
  • Reinforcement of key concepts in building construction, drawing, and workshop practice
  • Class assessment and diagnostic test

WEEK 2: Fault Detection (Troubleshooting)

  • Meaning of fault detection
  • Common faults in simple systems
  • Tools used for identifying faults
  • Importance of maintenance and repair

Class Activity: Students identify “faults” in broken classroom objects (fan, bulb holder, chair).

WEEK 3: Basic Electronics I
